CAFOs in total make approximately 61 billion tons of waste each year! This carbon footprint is substantial. Speaking of carbon, Grass Pastures act as "Carbon Sinkholes" They pull both methane and carbon dioxide from the air and place them in the soil, cleaning the air. So not only are they preventing waste, but they are cleaning up their competion's mess aswell.

Additionally, when livestock is left to roam free, rather than being confined to a building, their manure spreads across the field, making astounding fertilizer. This also eliminates the waste management problems found in feedlots and factory farms known as "the waste problem." The average cow produces 120 pounds of manure each day. All of this waste can be could be used to fertilize feilds in an enviromentally and economically safe way, and can be even turned into electricity through "digesters" (machines which decompose manure and capture the methane gas emitted), but if not handled properly, it can polute streams, ponds, and underground water.
